International Justice accepts Tehran's suit against Washington over re-imposition of sanctions

The International Court of Justice accepted the case of Iran against the United States of America on sanctions.
The International Court said Wednesday that it had jurisdiction to consider Iran's complaint against the United States of America over the re-imposition of sanctions following Washington's withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal.
Russia, Turkey and Iran - President Vladimir Putin, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian President Hassan Rowhani in Ankara, Turkey April 4, 2018
"It is sufficient for the court to conclude that this dispute has not been settled by diplomatic means before it is brought before the court," the head of the court, Abdelkawi Ahmed Yousef, said during the court hearing.
He added: "The court has jurisdiction to consider the complaint, because the dispute arose from the violation of the application of the Friendship Institutes."
He continued: "We accept the case and pending the final decision," asserting that the court can exercise its powers if it is satisfied that the rights contained are logical and acceptable.
Iran filed a lawsuit against the United States in July, in particular the US sanctions imposed by Washington.
The International Court of Justice said Iran said in the lawsuit that the sanctions imposed by Washington in May violated a bilateral treaty signed between the two countries in 1955.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Wednesday ordered the suspension of US sanctions on "humanitarian" goods supplied to Iran .

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has asked the United States today to ensure that sanctions against Iran do not affect humanitarian aid or the safety of civil aviation.

"The court unanimously declares that the United States, through its own means, must remove all obstacles imposed by the measures announced on May 8, 2018 on the freedom to export medicines," Judge Abdelkawi Ahmed Yousef, president of the Hague-based court, was quoted as saying. Medical supplies, foodstuffs and agricultural products to Iran. "

President Donald Trump has re - imposed US sanctions on Iran after its withdrawal from the international nuclear agreement signed with them in 2015

and made Tehran a complaint by the United Nations International Tribunal alleging that sanctions in violation of the terms of the Treaty of Friendship in 1955

and the decisions of the International Court of Justice binding and can not be challenged In which. But the court has no means of enforcing them.

President Trump said last week that the United States would impose tougher sanctions against Iran, asking the Security Council to work with the United States to make sure that Iran's behavior stopped and prevented it from acquiring a nuclear bomb.

"The Iranian regime is issuing violence, terrorism and chaos," said Trump, who last week presided over the UN Security Council session to combat the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, stressing that "Tehran must never be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon."

Trump criticized the nuclear deal, which the United States pulled out earlier this year. "Iran's aggression has increased" since its signing in 2015, and Tehran has "used funding from the convention to support terrorism and fuel conflicts in the region and beyond the region," he said.

He stressed that his country would impose tougher sanctions on Iran "to contain the overall bad behavior" after the completion of the re-application of all sanctions lifted under the nuclear agreement in early November.
Trump warned that "any entity or party trying to circumvent this will face strict measures."
