Iran's economy is entering its worst recession after re-imposing US sanctions
The [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/4072/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D9%82%D8%AF %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%88%D9%84%D9%8A]International Monetary[/url] Fund [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/4072/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D9%82%D8%AF %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%88%D9%84%D9%8A](IMF[/url] ) has predicted a significant contraction in the Iranian economy due to the re-imposition of US sanctions.
In its World Economic Outlook, the IMF said Iran 's economy is expected to contract by 1.5% this year, shrinking by 3.6% in 2019.
The IMF predicted in May that the Iranian economy would grow by 4 percent in 2018 and the year ahead before US President Donald Trump announced the re-imposition of sanctions on Tehran, according to Sky News. The IMF said Iran's economy to positive growth Modest between 2020 and 2030.
Trump re-imposed economic sanctions in May after he pulled out of a nuclear deal between Iran and the major powers in July 2015.
Iran's oil exports have dropped by half a million barrels a day from 2.5 million barrels and are expected to see further declines as sanctions come into effect next month, limiting Iran's imports from its main source of income.
