The delegation of the Iraqi parliament headed by First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Hassan al-Kaabi met on Monday in the Swiss capital of Geneva with the delegation of the Iranian Republic headed by the representative of Tehran in the Islamic Consultative Assembly Fatima Hosseini on the sidelines of the 139th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Al-Kaabi and the current parliamentary delegation reiterated their total rejection of the American blockade in any way against the Iranian people, denouncing what he called the "policy of starvation" imposed on the peoples.
Al-Kaabi said in a statement to the twilight news that "the need to activate parliamentary friendship committees between the two countries to serve the interests of the two peoples, also discussed important files such as water and electricity and the expansion of economic activities,
In turn, the Iranian delegation praised the formation of the Iraqi presidencies and the task of appointing the prime minister to form a government, stressing the keenness of the Islamic Republic to increase cooperation in fields of common interest, especially trade, economic and security against terrorism.
"We, as brotherly peoples with whom we have historical ties and ties, should not allow any American-Zionist project to separate the two peoples and move towards progress and promote stability," he said.
