, said a source familiar, Sunday that the Iraqi government has demanded their Jordanian counterpart handed over a statue of the former regime head of copper discs back Saddam Hussein .

"The Iraqi government has demanded from its Jordanian counterpart that it hand over a copper statue to former regime president Saddam Hussein," the Jordanian newspaper Qabas quoted the source as saying. "Jordan confiscated the statue from a US citizen who tried to smuggle it through the kingdom in 2003."

The source added that " Jordan refused to sell the statue, despite the existence of a system to allow the sale of customs confiscations, within 3 months of confiscation, because of the sensitivity of the subject with Iraq ."

The Iraqi government demands the statue as the heir to the ruling Baath partygovernment in 2003.
