Governor Assaad al-Eidani said on Monday that the railway project between Iraq andKuwait falls within the economic vision of Kuwait in 2035, while the implementation of this project is dependent on the establishment of the port of Faw.

Al-Eidani said in an explanation followed by Alsumaria News that "everything related to the rail link between Iraq and Kuwait is nothing that should not take more space than its size," noting that "the railway project with Iraq falls within the view of Kuwait in 2035."
He pointed out that the governor of Basra that "any skating link with neighboring countries should not be before the establishment of the port of Faw," adding that "the rail link with neighboring countries will be for the transport of passengers only."

For his part, said the head of the Commission on the border crossings in the provincial council, Murtada al-Shammani said in an interview with Alsumaria News, "The project linking the railway with the State of Kuwait we do not have sufficient details about him, and we do not know who the party that demanded, and what is useful or harmful to the national economy "Considering that" any project or decision affects the Iraqi economy is unacceptable. "

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih , called yesterday, after his meeting with the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al - Ahmad Al - SabahTo "work on the establishment of new transport lines and railways to strengthen economic and cultural relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples." Previously, the Kuwaiti government expressed its desire to link Skaki with Iraq.

Economists and experts believe that the boom in shipping traffic through the newly built Mubarak Al Kabir port is dependent on this type of linkage. They also warned of the negative impact of the railway link on Iraqi commercial ports, especially the port of Faw, which successive governments have not pursued seriously.
