(Baghdad: Al-Furat News) Rep. Of the reform bloc, Burhan al-Mamouri, on Sunday, attributed the growing culture of corruption to the absence of the principle of reward and punishment.
"Corruption has taken a big place in all state institutions," Al-Mamouri said in a statement received by the Euphrates News Agency. "It has become a dominant culture amid the absence of strict accountability."
He added that "the first reason for the spread of the culture of corruption is weakness in the application of the law," warning of "the continued absence of the principle of reward and punishment in light of the growing culture."
Al-Mamouri stressed the need to implement the laws and support their implementation, pointing out that the culture of corruption is not activated in most of these laws. "It
is noteworthy that Transparency International puts Iraq in years in the most corrupt, bribe and nepotism in the world.
