Iranian allegations of a piracy operation hit one of its vessels near Bab al-Mandab
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian naval forces on Friday attacked pirates who attacked an Iranian oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden, Iranian media reported.
"An Iranian oil tanker was attacked on Thursday morning by pirates on 11 boats near the Bab al-Mandab Strait in the Gulf of Aden, but it was rescued by intervention in a timely manner," according to the Fars news agency. "Iran.
Iranian television showed footage claiming it was for the navy and shooting at the boats, stressing that the tanker, carrying more than 150,000 tons of oil, continued its way safely.
