(Baghdad: Al-Furat News) Chairman of the Basra Investment Commission, Engineer Alaa Abdul Hussein Salman, with a delegation from the Swiss company Jensz, the establishment of a solid waste disposal and membership in the province of Basra.
He said in a press statement that "the wastes discharged in the province of Basra since 2012 and until now it was found that the city put 1200_1500 tons per day, while reports indicate that the production of one individual waste up to 0.74 kilograms in 2019."
"The company is ready to set up a waste disposal project at a cost of around 70 million euros and during the implementation period of about one and a half years. The project will produce electricity and recycle iron and glass to benefit from the manufacture of thermal and modern technology," he said.
He added that the company has studied the establishment of the project and after the field study on the reality of the province and through the preparation of a field study shows that the project will also contribute to rid the city of waste contaminated with the environment and will also save the city from landfill areas, which is expanding continuously, "indicating that it is hoped if his project is to provide many job opportunities.
