Reporters Without Borders International (RSF) on Tuesday announced its latest statistics on the most dangerous countries in the world for journalists, marking the first time in its history that the United States entered Iraq and Iraq emerged from the list.
"The United States has entered for the first time in its history the list of the five most dangerous countries for journalists in the world, despite the absence of any armed conflict or war inside," the organization said in a press release , Third place, after India and Mexico. "
"Hatred against journalists is clear in the United States by well-known politicians, religious leaders and businessmen, which have had serious consequences for the work of journalists, which have been translated into violence and targeting," the organization said, quoting its Secretary-General Christoph Delor.
Iraq's ranking in the list of countries most dangerous to journalists is lagging behind the top five, but is still under scrutiny.
Iraq ranks 160th on the index of freedom of press expression, according to last year's statistics.
