Iraqi officials said Thursday that 40 to 50 Iraqi sympathizers were arrested in the two southern towns of the Baguz and Syrian crosses by the Syrian Democratic Forces.
The officials said that "between 40 to 50 Iraqi supporters, at the very least, who were arrested in the towns of Al-Bagouz and the Syrian hybrid by the Syrian Democratic Forces (Qdd) have not shown any impact so far."
"The Americans took the detained Iraqis to interrogation and disappeared, while others suggest that the forces of Qusd are still holding them, or that they have fled them for huge sums of money, because some of them are prominent members of the organization, and some have said they have been liquidated," they said.
An official in the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces revealed that "friendly parties leaked information to government officials about the presence of Iraqi detainees who were captured in the Baguz by the Kurds and taken by the Americans, and we do not know why they were taken and held so far and not handed over to Iraq with others."
The official added that "Iraq has no information about the real number and names or positions and the reason for the Americans to take them, if correct information received by the government from several sources."
He stressed that "the talk is about the alarms of dangerous Iraqis have been surrounded and their families during the fighting, including wounded, not the elements surrendered themselves during the fighting," pointing out that "Iraq is trying to communicate with Qdd again to ensure that there are no gunmen or those believed to be armed with them Iraqi citizens, not those who have been extradited. "
It is reported that the first of these information leaks to the Iraqi government are the Iranians and the Russians, including through a Russian journalist working in Baghdad, when he spoke to a government official about "the presence of dangerous gunmen by organizing an appeal still with the Americans since their arrest."
But Iraqi army officials confirmed that they "completed the process of receiving all those who had the forces of Qdd, of Iraqi citizens, about 600 terrorists, including about 200 were injured during the fighting and air strikes."
According to a senior officer of the Iraqi Army's Al-Jazeera and Al-Badia Operations Command who received the file, "the file was completely closed by handing over the last Iraqis and placing them in a military detention facility under judicial supervision."
