[size=18]Head of the Committee for Family, Women and Childhood MP Haifa Al-Amin on Thursday stressed the need to provide thoughtful and realistic remedies for the scourge of drugs, stressing the importance of legislation to focus on rescuing users of these toxins and not just punishing and imprisoning them.

Al-Amin said in an interview with Alsumaria News that "the scourge of drugs is a serious disease that affects the society and need to join efforts of many parties to eliminate and contain," noting that "the legal legislation is useless without the actual application on the ground by the concerned authorities ".

The Secretary added, "There are many dialogues and debates that have taken place in this regard in the House of Representatives and in the presence of executive bodies concerned to address this serious file in a thoughtful manner consistent with reality," pointing out that "there are two parties to the issue of drugs, the first is the dealer and financier of these toxins is the responsibility of border and internal outlets And the intelligence effort to follow up and hold them accountable with the most severe sanctions. She continued, "The second party is the user of these toxins and is treated from a human perspective as a patient and a victim of these toxins and we must save it through the relevant institutions in the ministries of health and labor and be treated as a victim and not a criminal and we must rehabilitate it to be a useful element "Legislation should address this phenomenon and not just focus on punishing the user because we will not benefit from punishing him, but we will lose a citizen that can be addressed," she said.

Al-Amin stressed that "the awareness aspect is very important to contain this phenomenon and address it before more victims occur, and awareness will be stages in educational institutions and within the community and the family and even the media and the state should have a role in filling the youth vacuum work or recreational facilities such as swimming, culture and other to protect young people from Fall into this danger.
