    A report by the site (Just Security) of the US National Security and the Faculty of Law at New York University, attempts by US companies to acquire deals to extract gas from Iraqi oil fields in light of the huge quantities discovered.

    "So far proven reserves of natural gas are sufficient to meet the current demand of a big country like Germany for at least 40 years," he said.
    He pointed out that "the extraction of these resources and exported through US energy companies would achieve US victories on several fronts, including reducing Europe's dependence on Russian energy markets, and enhance US energy security and create jobs and revenues for the United States."
    "With regard to Iraq, the effective production cost and environmental responsibility of the country in terms of extracting its natural resources would contribute to ensuring the stability necessary for the future well-being of that country," he said.
