Iran and China have entered into contracts worth 400 billion dollars to award projects to Chinese companies without the need to participate in tenders, Tehran Chamber of Commerce and Industry delegate Farel Mostovi said Tuesday.
Earlier reports said that "China plans to invest tens of billions of dollars in the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors of Iran, which were affected by the US sanctions."
"Chinese investments are the key point in a new agreement between the two countries, which was confirmed during Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's visit to China in late August to present a roadmap for the 2016 Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement," Petroleum Economist quoted a senior Iranian source as saying.
This comes at a time when Iran is subject to harsh sanctions by the United States, especially the oil sector to cut off sources of income from Tehran in an attempt to return to the negotiating table on the nuclear deal.
