Baghdad has witnessed large demonstrations since this morning after the funeral of the body of doctor Abbas Ali, who was killed last night by a bullet in the chest near the bridge of Bab al-Muadham, where he was trying to reach some of the wounded demonstrations and was taken to hospital by the owners of small vehicles "ticking", but he died By the way.
Abbas is one of the most prominent doctors in Tahrir Square. The protesters are accompanied by a tent set up to treat and assist them along with other volunteer doctors.
Witnesses confirmed the rise in the number of closed bridges in Baghdad linking the sides of Karkh and Rusafa to six bridges, namely, the Republic and Senk and Ahrar and martyrs and Bab al-Muadham, in addition to the suspension bridge that connects directly to the center of the Green Zone, and thus be half the bridges of the capital on the Tigris River has been closed Exactly, what has generated great pressure on the other six bridges in terms of car traffic between Karkh and Rusafa in Baghdad.
In Maysan, unidentified gunmen killed prominent Iraqi activist Amjad al-Dahamat after he left the sit-in square in Shabana area in Amara city last night, where gunmen attacked him and fired several bullets in the head and chest, killing him immediately before they fled.
After the funeral of the victim, the demonstrators took part in the demonstration and chanted slogans calling for the overthrow of the regime and others against Iran.
In addition, 35 demonstrators were injured in Basra, most of them suffocated by gas and about 10 demonstrators for the same reason in the western Ali district of Dhi Qar, amid continued blocking of main roads by demonstrators in a number of cities in the south.
Meanwhile, Iraqi parliamentarian Faik Sheikh Ali demanded that the demonstrators insist on dismissing the government of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi.
Sheikh Ali said in remarks carried by local Iraqi media, that Adel Abdul Mahdi "was seeking the post of prime minister throughout the previous period, has resigned from all previous positions, but will not resign from the prime minister," noting that "history will record the fall of 300 martyrs and 12 A thousand wounded young men in his reign, many of them in serious situations. ”
"The Iranian intervention and Tehran's domination of the political process are unquestionably clear in Iraq," Sheikh Ali said, urging demonstrators to express their anger by attacking the headquarters of its diplomatic missions and tearing pictures of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other Iranian figures.
He also accused the US administration of "enjoying what is happening now in Iraq," stressing that "the American decision-maker wants to burn the Iraqi people, where he stands with the government and the parties of power."
He continued that the US administration meets on a daily basis with Iraqi figures linked to Iran and actors in the political scene, at the US embassy and other places inside the country and abroad, calling on the demonstrators to "insist on the demand to dismiss or resign the government, in preparation for the formation of an interim government to implement the other demands such as the enactment of an election law Or the formation of a new commission for early elections. ”
Sheikh Ali also attacked the committee set up by the parliament to take over the task of amending the constitution.
