The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have affirmed respect for the independent Iraqi national decision.
The media office of the President of the Republic said in a statement that President Barham Saleh received a phone call from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, noting that during the phone conversation, the latest security and political developments at the regional and international levels were discussed, and the need to protect Iraqi sovereignty and respect for the independent Iraqi national decision was respected. .
The two sides noted the necessity of restraint and dependence on calm and constructive dialogue in resolving crises and avoiding escalation in a way that strengthens the foundations of peace and stability in the region and the world, as well as cooperation and joint coordination to confront terrorism and not providing the opportunity for terrorists to reorganize their remnants and threaten international peace and security.
