The Security and Defense Committee in the House of Representatives revealed a visit by local delegations of specialists to three countries to acquire modern systems to protect Iraqi airspace, while showing the existence of an idea to trade Iraqi oil for weapons similar to the "oil for construction" agreement concluded recently with China.

Committee member Badr Al-Ziyadi said in a press statement: "Delegations intend to visit [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] China and Ukraine to agree with them on the supply of modern systems to protect Iraqi airspace, and complete the installation of modern thermal cameras on the borders to reveal any terrorist movements trying to penetrate."

Al-Ziyadi added: "The House of Representatives is about to form a joint delegation from the legislative and executive branches to visit developed countries to contract to purchase advanced weapons."

[size=18]On Monday, the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee revealed that local delegations from specialists visited three countries to acquire modern systems to protect Iraqi airspace from any aggression or violation of sovereignty that may occur in the future, while noting that the visit includes Russia, China and Ukraine.

“Your delegation intends to visit the countries of Russia, China and Ukraine to agree with them on the supply of modern systems to protect Iraqi airspace, and complete the installation of modern thermal cameras,” said Badr Al-Zaidi, in a statement to “Al-Sabah”.

He added that "the Parliament is in the process of forming a joint delegation from the legislative and executive powers to visit developed countries to contract the purchase of advanced weapons."

He continued, "There are many countries that have expressed their readiness to equip Iraq with modern weapons for oil," stressing that "this is the best way to ensure a good weapon is supplied to Iraq without there being corruption or bribery granted to the two sides."

He explained that "the incomplete arming of the border forces with sophisticated weapons comes through the mistake in relying on the agreement with the United States of America, which has spent huge sums of money and has not been completed," calling on the Iraqis to "rely on themselves and the gunshots."
