Iraqi sources revealed a plan to withdraw militant groups in the Popular Mobilization Militia from Iranian hegemony.
The sources indicated that this plan enjoys the support of the Shiite cleric Ali al-Sistani and is led by his close associates, as four Iraqi armed factions are leading a campaign to persuade semi-official combat groups to change their affiliation to the Iraqi government instead of the popular crowd.

The sources pointed out that the transformation of the four factions is the first step in the project proposed by Maytham Al-Zaidi, a cleric close to Sistani.
Al-Zaidi negotiated with Al-Kazemi during the past days, and he obtained a pledge not to dissolve the PMF factions that voluntarily move from the authority to the armed forces in any other regular formation.The sources revealed that putting up this plan would not have been possible had it not been for the increased chances of Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kazemi to form the new government.
The plan includes setting a deadline for the factions wishing to join the Office of the Commander in Chief to resolve their affairs, with the government taking a decision to consider groups that insist on being linked to the head of the Hashd militia as an outlaw militia.
