(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, confirmed, on Wednesday, that the government is working to end the presence of foreign forces, calmly and unhealthily, to increase NATO personnel.
Al-Araji's media office said in a statement that the Euphrates News Agency received a copy of it today that "he received the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Blashart, and during the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Iraq and the UN mission, and emphasize the importance of continuing support for the United Nations. For Iraq.
Al-Araji explained that the government respects the decision of the Iraqi Council of Representatives on foreign forces, and is working to end this file calmly, in a way that guarantees the stability of the country.
He reviewed with Blashart, the work of the NATO mission in Iraq, stressing that the number of NATO mission personnel is 320, representing experts, advisors, trainers and employees only, and the mission does not have any combat or security missions in Iraq.
Al-Araji pointed out that the tasks of the NATO mission in Iraq fall under the description of training and advice only, and there is no decision or directive from the Iraqi government to increase their number or change their advisory functions, and that any talk about increasing the number of NATO personnel in Iraq is incorrect.
