    {Baghdad: Al Furat News} The Iraqi Drilling Company is preparing to conclude contracts to drill and rehabilitate dozens of oil wells with international companies operating the fields of Al-Zubair, Al-Gharaf and Rumaila, as part of Iraq's strategy to raise oil production rates in the future.

    "The Ministry of Oil and his company are considering concluding drilling work contracts with Chinese and American companies operating in Iraq, as drilling and service contracts to take advantage of the modern capabilities to raise the technical level of his company," said the company’s general manager, Basem Abdul Karim.
    He added, "His company is about to start drilling 20 wells in the Nasiriyah field in Dhi Qar governorate," noting that it is "included in a long-term plan with the Dhi Qar Oil Company to advance the sector, with a completion period of more than two years."
    The Iraqi Drilling Company announced that it had recently completed drilling 14 oil wells in the Zubair field, west of Basra Governorate, for the Italian company (ENI), the main operator of the field.
    Abdul Karim explained that his company, after the relative relaxation of the repercussions of the Corona virus, resumed its negotiations with the international companies developing the oil fields in the country and their counterparts affiliated with the Ministry in the governorates, in preparation for signing the postponed contracts with the aim of enhancing the country's energy capabilities.
    He stated that "the drilling and rehabilitation contracts, which are hoped to be concluded soon, included drilling 37 wells in the Zubair field for the Italian company (ENI), the main operator of the field, and starting discussions with the main contractor (BP) for the Rumaila field to develop the giant field west of Basra."
    Recently, the Iraqi Drilling Company and a consortium of the (Petronas) oil company, the main operator of the Al-Gharraf field, reached a preliminary agreement to complete the contract for drilling 28 new oil wells in Al-Gharaf district, north of the city of Nasiriyah.
    The Director General of the Iraqi Drilling Company announced, "Near the signing of a contract to drill 43 oil wells in the Majnoon field with the Basra Oil Company, which is the third largest oil field in the world, with reserves amounting to 12.6 billion barrels."
    It is noteworthy that the Basra Oil Company was able to operate and develop the field after the withdrawal of the American company (Royal Dutch - Shell) from the field development contract as part of the oil agreement at the end of 2009.
    Abdul Karim stated that "his company has completed all its preparations to sign a contract with the Central Oil Company, to drill 27 wells in the East Baghdad field with direct contracts, and continues its discussions with the Maysan Oil Company to sign a contract to drill 22 wells in the Bazerkan field and rehabilitate 150 other wells," in addition to concluding a contract Operating a number of drilling towers with the North Oil Company, as well as rehabilitating a large number of wells in Kirkuk fields.
