Sairoun: internal and external pressures impede the establishment of the Al-Faw port

Yesterday, Tuesday, the Sadrist movement’s Saeron alliance called for the completion of the large port of Faw away from political pressures, stressing the need for government to directly supervise the project, while talking about external and internal pressures aimed at not having Iraq a sea outlet.
The leader of the coalition, Badr Al-Ziyadi, said, in an interview with Al-Mada, that "the large Faw port project is strategic and achieves large imports, and reduces dependence on oil revenues, whose prices have fluctuated." Al-Ziyadi, a deputy from Basra, added, "We notice a big rush from the Council of Ministers to complete the project, in conjunction with the Parliament's support in the financial allocation that was set in the budget law for the current year." He pointed out, "When the project is completed, it will receive all the giant ships that were unable to reach the Iraqi ports, and this will put us in front of a large sea port." Al-Ziyadi stated that “Basra suffers from unemployment; Because of the economic conditions, and the project will provide great opportunities for graduates, ”noting that“ the port is a place to receive ships coming from important countries, the most important of which is China, in order for their goods to pass to Europe. ”
He affirmed the support of the Saeron Alliance for "implementing the project", expressing his aspiration that "work will be done away from the interference of political blocs," calling at the same time the federal government to "exercise its role in direct oversight and supervision."
Al-Ziyadi spoke about “external pressures faced with the establishment of the port, as it will affect the Gulf ports and the Suez Canal,” stressing that “countries do not want Iraq to have a major project that leads to dispensing with their ports, but these pressures will not affect when the governmental, representative and popular will persists.”
Al-Ziyadi went on to say that "the national forces will not accept stopping the project, whatever the reason, and therefore the internal efforts aimed at disrupting the port will fail.
