    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

Foreign labor from Iraq drains about 1% of its domestic product, thus draining the Iraqi capital, especially hard currency that goes outside the country, that is, an estimated amount of more than one billion dollars a month that goes outside the country, through foreign workers that occupy more than a million job opportunities in the country, which It contains 15 million unemployed.

1% of the domestic product goes abroad
Economic specialist Hussein Shaker considers that "foreign workers have left a large Iraqi unemployment," while stressing the need to control the entry of foreign workers and use efficient workers, taking into account the employment of Iraqi workers next to them.
Shaker said in statements that “after 2003, Iraq witnessed an economic, social and political openness that allowed the entry of foreign workers, whether legally or illegally,” indicating: “One of the dimensions of foreign employment, especially the illegal ones, has a clear impact on the gross domestic product as it works. On the exit of capital from Iraq ”.
In this regard, he referred to a statement by the Minister of Planning that there are one million foreign workers working illegally in Iraq, and thus this affects the monthly transfer rates outside the country.
He explained: “The worker's salary reached about $ 200 per worker per month, which is equivalent to 1% of the GDP, and this is a drain on the Iraqi capital and its escape outside the country, but also foreign workers lead to the spread of unemployment and thus reduce job opportunities for Iraqi youth.”
He concluded by saying: “Iraq needs, to overcome this problem, to formulate targeted economic policies for all economic sectors, especially the industrial sector, in addition to the need to control the entry of foreign workers and the use of qualified workers, taking into account the employment of Iraqi workers next to them.

About 30,000 Bengali workers on two projects
On the other hand, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs revealed that there are 29,000 Bengali workers working in Mustafa Karbala and Bismayah housing complex.
Al-Rikabi said, "The Karbala refinery employs 18,000 Bangladeshis compared to 2,000 Iraqis, while 11,000 Bengals work in the Basmaya complex."
He added that "the official authorities do not have the real number of foreign workers in Iraq," indicating that "there are about 500 to 600 thousand foreign workers in Iraq."
Al-Rikabi pointed out that "most of the foreign workers enter illegally," explaining that "there are still no official controls that limit the entry of foreign workers."

Foreigners removed a million and a half Iraqis from work
The head of the General Authority in the National Awareness Movement, Zaki Al-Saadi, said that the large numbers of foreign workers displaced 1.5 million Iraqis from the jobs they held.
He said in a statement that because of these figures, the unemployment rate among young people increased from 13% in 2008 to 32% in 2020 and is expected to reach 50% in 2025 in the event that the government continues to close its eyes to the unplanned recruitment of labor.
He explained, “The number of officially registered foreign workers reached 800,000 in 2020, while Minister of Labor Basem Abdul-Zaman stated in July of 2019 that this number is for foreign workers of 750,000 foreign workers, most of whom work in the oil fields and all state facilities and may reach The amount of the salaries of some of them to more than 20 thousand dollars a month in the fields and ports, and the lowest that the foreign wage earns in local homes and workshops reaches 300 dollars.
He added, "There are an estimated number of more than 700,000 unregistered workers working in the country and enjoying the same allocations and wages, indicating that" the amount of salaries that are transferred outside the country salaries for this category at a rate of 1.5 billion dollars per month and this amount goes in hard currency outside the borders of the country. "
And he demanded that the Ministry of Labor "take serious measures to limit the recruitment of labor to open an opportunity for Iraqi youth to work first."
He expressed the possibility of providing more than 800,000 job opportunities for young people instead of foreign arrivals, by imposing strict laws that limit their recruitment and restricting approval only to bring in competencies and expertise not present in the country. We only need government attention and political will to support Iraqi youth.

This comes at a time when the number of unemployed in Iraq has reached about 15 million citizens, according to the statistics of the Parliamentary Labor and Social Affairs Committee, which means that job opportunities occupied by foreign workers can solve the problem of about 6% of the unemployed, where employment is employed More than a million foreign jobs.
