[size=30]A strange paradox: Classifying Iraq as a country in need of food and one of the most food wasting countries at the same time.. The Iraqi wastes 120 kg of food annually!

    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

In a report, the second in just 3 months, Iraq came among the countries that need foreign aid in order to obtain food. In a report published by the FAO last March, Iraq came along with Libya, Mauritania and Sudan in the list of countries facing severe and concentrated food insecurity.
Once again, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) announced today in a recent report that ten Arab countries, including Iraq, need external assistance for food due to internal climate-related conflicts.

The Rome-based organization said, "The effects of the Corona pandemic, mainly in terms of income losses, have exacerbated vulnerabilities and increased current levels of food insecurity."
She indicated that "10 Arab countries need external assistance for food, as climate-related conflicts and clashes continue to reinforce high levels of severe food insecurity."
And she noted that "Iraq is among these ten countries that need foreign food assistance, in addition to Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Sudan, Libya, Djibouti, Eritrea, Mauritania and Somalia."

Iraq is the second waste of food in the Middle East!
But the paradox is that Iraq, in a different kind of classification, is among the countries that waste the most food.
And last March, the British newspaper The Guardian published a list of the countries that waste the most food, with an average person wasting 74 kilograms annually.
The report said that food waste was thought to be a problem mostly affecting rich countries, but the UN report found that levels of waste were surprisingly similar in all countries, despite the scarcity of data in the poorest countries.
The UN report revealed that Iraq ranks second in food waste after Bahrain in the Middle East, indicating that the value of food wasted annually by an Iraqi individual is 120 kg.
Iraq ranked second in the average volume of food waste per person annually by 120 kg, followed by Saudi Arabia with 105 kg, then Lebanon with 105 kg, then Sudan with 97, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the UAE with 95, then Jordan with 93, and then Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia with 91 kg each.
