{Local: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Electricity has warned of the consequences of the continued sabotage operations on the network joints and their negative impact on its storage of iron towers and the depletion of the capabilities of its staff in rehabilitation operations, describing what is happening of sabotage operations as a "public war" on energy towers.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Al-Abadi, said in a press interview, “The targeting of the infrastructure of the electricity sector is nothing but a public war on power transmission lines and towers, and therefore it is widely interrupted at the level of high and high pressure lines, which leads to a decline in the electricity supply to the citizen.” Which is the primary target of this war."
He added that "the targeting of the system is not the first, but this time it is happening in a new way, as it takes modern methods and qualities to harm citizens, because targeting the electricity file is the soft loin through which the government effort is twisted, and thus pitting the street against the Ministry of Electricity."
He stressed, "The attacks continue despite the presence of protection, intelligence efforts, military and security units, and coordination with tribal sheikhs and dignitaries. It is used to break bottlenecks, not to compensate for sabotage damages.
The ministry spokesman expressed his hope that "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi's recent directives, which require the operation of emergency regiments, the installation of thermal cameras, and the operation of drones, will be positively reflected and contribute to protecting the network joints from sabotage elements."
On the other hand, Al-Abadi confirmed the continuation of the engineering and technical staff in the General Electricity Production Company in the south, the installation works of the installed units in the Shatt al-Basra gas station implemented by the Kar Company, which consists of (5) generating units with a capacity of (650) megawatts installed.
And he indicated that "the works included the installation of Transformer No. (1) in addition to the installation of cooling towers for the two units (2-1), and the installation of a transformer (35) megawatts, which will help the auxiliary parts of the installed units," noting that "work is continuing at an increasing pace to install the steam turbine and generators, Especially that the overall achievement rate was 89%.
Al-Abadi stressed that "the completion of the work of the units will contribute to the stability of the station, increase its production, benefit from wasted energy from fuel and burning gases from gas units and reduce environmental pollution, and it is hoped that the work will be completed on time and link the units to the national grid system soon."
