BAGHDAD / NINA / Turkmen independent MP, Niazi Mumar Oglu predicted a big surprise in the House of Representatives today to select a president because the political blocs are not convinced to give the president's post to the Kurds.

Oglu said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that "Iraq is a country carrying Arab identity and the quotas cannot give the post of President of the Republic in two consecutive sessions to the Kurds, adding that giving the president's post to the Kurds again will create a state of chaos and disharmony between the political blocs."

He added, "The political arena will see surprises in the next few days, not just at the level of selecting a president, but also at the level of choosing a prime minister as well, calling for political blocs to choose technocrats personalities because of the sensitivity of the current stage."

It is mentioned that the Kurdish blocs nominated, in a late hour last night, the leading figure of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Fuad Masum, for the post of president of the republic after a tough competition with the other leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Barham Salih.

It is scheduled the House of Representatives holds its fifth session today to choose the President of the Republic, after the session being adjourned yesterday at the request of the Kurdish blocs.
