    Earth News/ The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Adel Al-Rikabi, discussed today, Sunday, with the French Ambassador to Iraq Eric Chevalier, cooperation in the areas of vocational rehabilitation for youth and people with special needs.
    A statement by the ministry, received by Earth News, said that the minister received the French ambassador to Iraq Eric Chevalier today, and they discussed cooperation in the areas of social affairs and support for the ministry in implementing its projects, especially in the field of vocational rehabilitation for youth and people with special needs and how to create jobs in the private sector.
    The minister said, according to the statement: “The Ministry of Labor is a large sectoral ministry that provides services to large groups of society and needs all forms of international support to advance the reality of services,” stressing “the strengthening of Iraqi-French relations in the future and strengthening cooperation in various fields.”
    He pointed to the need for support in the field of information technology and vocational training, as well as attention to the category of people with disabilities by providing programs to rehabilitate them and integrate them into society.
    He explained that "the ministry has prepared a new law for retirement and social security, and it is awaiting legislation in the House of Representatives for the next government to take upon itself the implementation of the law, noting that the new law is one of the very important laws in encouraging the private sector and includes many privileges."
    Al-Rikabi stressed "the importance of the role of the international community - of which France is a part - in supporting and assisting the government in general and the ministry in particular in implementing important projects that concern large segments of society."
    For his part, the French ambassador announced "his country's readiness to provide all forms of support to the ministry in order to improve services for the groups concerned with its care, according to a joint cooperation program between the two countries."
