A spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, Muhammad Hanoun, said, "The quantities of marketed wheat rose today to one million and 300 thousand tons, and today also, marketing centers were opened in the Kurdistan region for the purpose of receiving its production of wheat."
He added, "It is expected that the quantity of wheat marketed from the provinces of the region will range between 300-400 thousand tons, and that the marketing season in Iraq will reach about one million and 800 thousand tons and perhaps two million."
He stressed that "these quantities confirm, in turn, the need for more imports of wheat to secure the citizens' need within the ration card items."
He pointed out that "the Ministry of Commerce is able to absorb the marketed quantities this year, and two seasons ago it succeeded in marketing 5 million and 400 thousand tons, and its stores are large and ready to accommodate the largest quantities," noting that "the farmers do not face any problems in the delivery of the crop as a result of overcoming all obstacles after the issuance of decisions From the Council of Ministers, I paid for the success of the current marketing season.”
