    Anbar - conscious - Ahmed Al-Dulaimi
Mesopotamia contains dozens of natural minerals distributed among its various governorates with large reserves that represent a national wealth and a source for reviving the economy, some of which are already invested.
Officials in Anbar province revealed the volume of industrial investment in the province. They also sent a request to the House of Representatives regarding the mineral investment law because of its great importance in operating the stalled factories and increasing financial revenues.
The head of the Anbar Investment Commission, Mahdi Al-Noman, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "There are large quantities of mineral wealth in Anbar Governorate, whether in the field of phosphate, sulfur or glass," noting that "the industrial sector in the province is successful and of great importance, especially with regard to plants for the production of cement, phosphate and silica sand.
He added that "there are solid investment companies that have applied to Anbar Governorate to produce bottles of soft drinks, medical bottles and glass, as well as to establish modern phosphate fertilizers, some of which have been granted investment licenses, and the other section is in the process of obtaining approvals from the Ministry of Industry as a sectoral authority, whether the Technical Department or the Geological Survey Department."
Al-Noman stressed that "the year 2022 will be the year of industry in Anbar, and this is what is being worked on," noting that "there are great investment licenses and the Ministry of Industry must issue fundamental approvals to start projects."
For his part, Adviser to Anbar Governor for Energy Affairs, Aziz Al-Tarmouz, explained to (INA), that "Al-Anbar Governorate is one of the governorates in which there are large quantities estimated at millions of tons of raw material, and this raw material has not been exploited since 2003 after the General Company for Phosphate Industry, which was exposed to It includes 8 laboratories to sabotage and destruction operations, and so far they have not been referred to investment, and the reason is the delay in approving the mineral investment law.”
And the House of Representatives demanded the approval of the mineral investment law, which was prepared by the ministry in advance, so that companies can refer them to investment, such as sulfur, phosphate, and other vital facilities.
Al-Tarmuz added that "there are 8 factories affiliated with phosphates and investment by the Ministry of Industry and Minerals for European companies. The referral procedures were halted due to the failure to vote in the House of Representatives to approve the unified mineral investment law that was prepared and submitted to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers by the Ministry of Industry for approval."
Al-Tarmuz called on "the House of Representatives to vote on the mineral investment law because of its great importance in operating the stalled factories and increasing financial revenues, as well as providing job opportunities for thousands of young people with different specializations."
An expert in the field of glass and refractories, Nazem Hamad Matar, says: "Mesopotamia has been blessed with many natural minerals and materials that are used in many industries. If they were used correctly, the country would be in the ranks of developed countries, whether in the extractive industries or manufacturing industries." .
Matar added, "Among these natural minerals is sulfur marble, which is located in the Mishraq area in Nineveh Governorate, where the reserves of this ore amount to 400 million tons, to be the largest reserve in the region, on the basis of which the General Company for Mishraq Sulfur was established in 1971, to produce Refining pure sulfur, alum and agricultural sulfur, in addition to its development and continuation in other industries, the most important of which are sulfuric acid and sulfonic acid used in the manufacture of various oils.
He pointed out that "among the materials also (phosphate rocks) located in the Akashat area in Al-Qaim district in Anbar Governorate, which is among the large reserves in Iraq, amounting to 10 billion tons, and constitutes an estimated percentage of 9 percent of the global reserves, on the basis of which the creation of The General Phosphate Company of 1978, for the production of phosphate fertilizers, phosphoric acid, ammonia and chlorine salts.
He pointed out that "the other substance is (glass sand), which is found in Anbar Governorate, in the Erdmah and Al-Ga'ara regions, and in the 160th kilometer area. The reserve of this substance is no less than 300 million tons, and there are quantities estimated at 400 million tons that are currently undiscovered with high-quality concentrations." Pointing out that "on this basis, the Ramadi Glass Factory was established in 1971 to produce various types of glass and ceramics."
He continued, "There is also a substance (limestone) present in all regions of Iraq, especially in the Western Desert, with a strategic reserve of not less than 500 million tons, which is used in the manufacture of cement, glass and other industries," noting that "another mineral is represented in (bauxite stones) located in the 160 kilometer area in Anbar Governorate, which is used in the production of the aluminum floor used in the installation of refinery kilns and cement kilns and the production of aluminum, whether industrial or metal.
Matar continued: "Also, kaolin clay, which is found in the Gha'ara area in Anbar Governorate, in quantities of no less than 200 million tons, is used in the manufacture of ceramics and bricks of all kinds," referring to "another material represented in (iron dust) located in the Hussainiyat area west of Anbar, which is used in the cement industry, as well as the manufacture of industrial iron and iron sheets.
He stressed, "All these materials that supply industrial factories in Iraq with raw materials locally, are the most important reasons for the industry's prosperity in the period confined to the beginning of the seventies until the beginning of 2003, but the security events and the entry of terrorist gangs from 2004 to 2016, led to the deterioration of Destruction and damage to factories in at least 80 percent.
And he added: "Here, it requires the competent authorities to consider rehabilitating it and returning it to its previous era to employ thousands of manpower again and exploit the existing expertise and achieve large revenues added to the oil revenues in the country, operating the region and increasing prosperity and trade exchange."
He stressed, "the need to harness all capabilities to rehabilitate these factories because of their great economic importance and to stop the export of hard currency outside Iraq, instead of continuing to import and enrich the factories of neighboring countries."
He explained, "The ideal solution is for the state to play the role of the investor to finance and revive these factories in a way that secures their operation by bringing in solid international companies, and thus we will have production plants comparable to the imported product."
