    Baghdad today - Sulaymaniyah
Today, Sunday (May 5, 2024), former member of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament, Kawa Abdul Qadir, described the services in the region as “very bad,” while pointing out that the parties in power are busy in their conflict and have left the Kurdish citizen living in a vortex of crises.
Abdul Qadir said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "We have not yet entered the summer season, and the supply of electrical power does not exceed a limited number of hours, and the owners of private generators still turn off their generators at one o'clock after midnight, and they do not turn them on until one o'clock in the afternoon."
He added, "We have not yet entered the summer season, and there is a water crisis. There are many areas in Sulaymaniyah and Erbil that only receive water every 3 or 4 days."
He stated, "The reason for the deterioration of the service situation is due to the presence of weak and divided government institutions in Kurdistan, and the parties in power are busy in their conflict, leaving the Kurdish citizen to live in a spiral of crises."
He pointed out that "other services in hospitals and schools are very poor, and most of the public streets need to be maintained."
It is noteworthy that the electricity crisis in the Kurdistan region is chronic and has been going on for years, without any solutions, as officials in the region’s parliament confirmed that the current shortage is due to the sale of electrical energy by the companies responsible for its production to the federal government, due to the inability of the regional government. Failure to pay the dues of these companies, which led to the region losing a large portion of energy.
