    Today, Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, directed to expedite the completion of operating requirements for gold screening units at airports, stressing the importance of conducting a trial census as it represents an important step to ensure the success of the general census.
    A statement from the Ministry of Planning, received by Al-Iqtisad News, stated that “Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, chaired a meeting that included the two deputy ministers, the head of the Statistics and Geographic Information Systems Authority, and a number of general directors.”
    He continued, "During the meeting, the progress made in the Ministry's procedures to conduct the general population census was reviewed, and the preparations of the Statistics and Geographic Information Systems Authority to implement the experimental census on the twentieth of this May, in specific areas in all governorates."
    The Minister stressed "the importance of the trial census, as it represents an important step to ensure the success of the general census," stressing "adherence to the time frames of the work plan, and focusing on the process of training enumerators."
    For his part, the head of the Statistics Authority, Dhia Awad Kazem, reviewed “the steps and procedures that the Authority is taking to conduct the census,” explaining that “there are 600 trainees from the Authority’s employees who are now participating in a training course, and there will be a field exercise to conduct an experiment in areas 220 and 222 located in Salhiya/ Al-Karkh District, on the 7th and 8th of this month.
    The statement explained, "The meeting also witnessed a discussion of the measures taken by the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control regarding equipping, installing, operating and training units for examining and marking precious jewelery and alloys at Iraqi airports, and providing laboratory devices, equipment and supplies."
    The Minister directed "those concerned to expedite the completion of the operating requirements for these units."
