    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Social networking sites circulated what bloggers described as the “Iraq Sahel Company scandal,” which they said was “one of the ten companies promising projects in Basra.”
Bloggers told "Baghdad Today", "Despite the failed work of this company, which began its journey on Hamdan Industrial Road, reaching the Al-Kaziza Bridge, which it failed to complete, projects are still referred to it."
Bloggers explained through video documentation, “The Sahel Al-Iraq Company painted the lighting poles and tampered with their specifications openly and in front of everyone.”
For his part, the company's director, Rahim Al-Bazouni, justified that his company "will replace the furnished columns with galvanized columns according to the directives of the Governor of Basra."
In addition, specialists were surprised by the company director’s statements about “replacing columns with directives, as all specifications are supposed to be fulfilled in the table of quantities (tender).”
They explained, "The price of a decorative column reaches three million dinars, while the price of a 12-meter galvanized column is only 950 thousand dinars. How are the columns replaced when there are large differences in prices?"

Last October, the representative of Basra, Abdul Amir Al-Mayahi, accused (October 24, 2023) the “Iraq Plain” company of “failing” to complete the Al-Kaziza Bridge project in the north of the governorate .
Al-Mayahi said in a statement followed by "Baghdad Today", "The company did not fulfill what it promised to Basra Street by moving the bridge that was cast to another location, as the company invented this method in order to speed up work ."
He stated, “The method of work did not speed up the completion period of the project, and the bridge was cut for long periods that may reach a full year,” adding, “If the traditional method had been followed, it would have been better instead of the method that the company talked about, which is moving the bridge within 48 hours!”
