The State of Law coalition announced, on Monday, the nomination of its leader, Nuri al-Maliki, for the position of the next prime minister, noting that the meeting discussed developments in the political process and the parliament session after Eid al-Adha.
The leader of the coalition, MP Muhammad Al-Sihoud, said, "The outcomes of the meeting of the State of Law coalition for yesterday's session were important, as a unanimous vote was taken to nominate the leader of the coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, to compete for the position of the next prime minister, and the vote was carried out according to the criteria set by the coordination framework."
He added that "the meeting discussed the developments of the political process and urged the political forces to expedite the formation of the government and push the Kurdish parties to agree on a specific personality for the position of the presidency," adding that "Al-Maliki's passing of his rivals will be easy because of his experience and a strong personality to manage the next stage, which is a difficult and complex stage.
" Chihod indicated that "the meeting also discussed the issue of the next parliament session, which will be held after the Eid al-Adha and legislative holidays for Parliament, and the possibility of gathering a sufficient number to vote on the position of the President of the Republic by urging other political forces to attend."
