Shafaq News/ Today, Wednesday, the Supreme Judicial Council denied the request of a group of judges to file a lawsuit before international courts regarding the chest sit-ins.
The council said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, "The Supreme Judicial Council makes it clear that judges and members of the public prosecution who continue to serve in particular, are committed to the obligations and duties imposed on them by the Judicial Organization Law, including not to act with individual discretion in cases that concern public opinion."
The statement added, "This is why the Supreme Judicial Council denies the publication containing the claim of the group of judges of the complaint before the international courts regarding the events of August 23, 2022, especially since the Iraqi judiciary is the competent and able to address any issue in accordance with the Iraqi laws in force."
And news spread about the attempt of a group of Iraqi judges to file an international complaint with the International Tribunal after what they considered a chest threat to the judiciary, as a result of the sit-ins in front of the council’s headquarters, and the demand for the armed wing of the Sadrist movement, represented by Saraya al-Salam, to be placed on the list of global terrorism.
