Shafaq News/ On Saturday, the Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee appealed to the United Nations, the Iraqi government and the governor of Nineveh, to rescue the displaced Yazidis after their tents were devoured by fire in the Kurdistan Region.
"We appeal to the Minister of Migration and Displacement, Othman Al-Ghanimi Agency, the Minister of Immigration Karim Al-Nouri, the Governor of Nineveh Najm Al-Jubouri, and the United Nations to rescue the displaced Yazidis," the head of the committee, Mahma Khalil Ali Agha, said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency.
And he indicated that "the fires engulfed 28 tents inhabited by 30 Yazidi families in the camp (Bahad Kendala) in Batili district in the Sumail district of Dohuk governorate, and we visited the site on the ground, which prompts us all to rescue them from their tragic situation."
Khalil suggested "collecting financial donations for them," noting that "he will donate one million dinars to each family affected by this fire, as well as providing new tents to replace the ones that were burned."
Ali Agha urged "the whole world, religious authorities, political leaders, the parliament and the Kurdistan Regional Government to save the Yazidis from the genocide they have been subjected to since 2014 until now, as their cause is more than humanitarian, as they need to align, grant rights to them, and find real solutions to their cause."
And he continued, "This religious component does not bear all these torments and abuses that killed it, and it is everyone's duty to grant them rights and entitlements, this fire is not the first, as they have lost everything."
He called for "international and Iraqi solidarity to compensate them for all the tragedies they have experienced and to grant them full rights, as well as to reconstruct Sinjar and make it an incubating environment for them and not expelling."
He explained, "While the politicians are preoccupied with quarrels among themselves and their own interests, we follow the conditions of this oppressed religious component that was subjected to extermination and is still subjected to it."
Ali Agha concluded by saying, "He will communicate with decision-makers as well as with the region to restore their rights and provide them with safety, as there is no alternative to the Sinjar Agreement and creating a safe environment for Sinjar to return to."
