[size=18]The parliamentary services committee on Saturday called on the Ministry of Transport not to extend the partnership contracts with Baghdad and Basra, while the committee called for opening the way for citizens to enter the airport, just like other airports in the world.

"There is an intention to extend the contract," said committee member Abbas al-Atafi in a press conference held in the House of Representatives with the participation of members of the committee and attended by Alsumaria News.

He added that "after the end of the contract for this year, the property belongs to the Ministry of Transport, but the General Company for the transfer of delegations and passengers coordinated with the Ministry of Transport to miss the opportunity to the Ministry to extend the contract and operate the printing press of the General Company for passenger transport," explaining that "the Committee opened the Ministry to provide contracts Tksi Baghdad and Basra as well as the partnership contract to run the printing press and the proportion of imports and amounts achieved by the State and to approach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to identify suspicions of smuggling and address the Inspector General to obtain investigative papers.

He stressed that "the committee will study the files and send the presidency of the House of Representatives and the Committee for reconstruction and services," and called "the Minister of Transport not to extend the contracts of partnership contract Tksi Baghdad and Basra and the partnership printing press because it caused waste of public funds and a great loss to the state."

He added that "the committee recommends opening the way for citizens to enter the airport to the reception area, just like other airports in the world."

The security committee in the Basra provincial council announced on June 13 that the airport tax was canceled after the improvement in the security situation in the province.
