    Today, Monday, September 12, 2022, the President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, received Minister of Water Resources Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, where they discussed water security and the challenges facing the country.
    The President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, stressed that the water file is a top priority in the country and an integral part of national security, referring to the severe climatic changes that are plaguing the country, the region and the world, pointing to the need to continue the strategic plans developed in this regard and to initiate the initiative to revive Mesopotamia, and that Addressing climate change is a national priority.
    He pointed out the importance of regulating water relations through dialogue with neighboring countries in accordance with the principles of good neighborliness and taking into account the interests of all without harming Iraq, praising the efforts of the government and the Ministry of Water Resources to address water scarcity, noting that securing water, protecting the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and confronting the water risks facing the country is a collective responsibility that shares It includes all state institutions and social activities and is not limited to the Ministry of Water Resources.
    For his part, Minister Mahdi Rasheed valued the attention and continuous follow-up of the President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, to the water file, and gave him an explanation of the ministry's work progress and the approved plans to face the water challenges facing the country.
