Baghdad / Obelisk: The Municipality of Baghdad clarified, on Friday, 10/21/2022, the latest developments of the waste-to-electricity project, and while setting a time limit to start implementing its practical steps, it confirmed that international companies will implement the project.
The Municipality's spokesman, Muhammad Al-Rubaie, said in a press interview, that the Municipality is continuing its orientation to launch a project to convert waste into electrical energy by dealing with international investment companies, and through the national investment window, and work is underway to make waste a source of energy.
Al-Rubaie added that the companies are present and we are in the process of preparing documents, after obtaining approval from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Electricity to purchase electricity that is extracted from waste at a price that suits the investor, which will pave the way for the start of practical steps for the investment process.
He added that the movement in this work is not fast, because we received the tasks four months ago, and 4 meetings were held to prepare the papers for the investment, and during the next two months there will be practical steps to start implementing it through international companies.
