The Kurdistan Regional Government operates an oil refinery with a production capacity of 100,000 barrels of crude per day
Shafaq News/ The Kurdistan Regional Government inaugurated today, Wednesday, the "Lanaz" oil refinery in Erbil governorate.
The ceremony of operating the refinery was held in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Territory, Masrour Barzani, a group of government and local officials, and the executing company.
The daily production capacity of "Lana's" refinery, which was established in 2008 and is among the largest in the region, is 100,000 barrels of crude oil.
Kamal Muhammad Salih, Acting Minister of Natural Resources, said in a speech during the opening ceremony of the refinery: This project was established by the "Lanaz" company according to high quality and the latest environmentally friendly specifications, adding that the implementation of this project for the Kurdistan Region is an important step to support the labor force in the region. In addition to putting an end to the waste of money by sending it abroad."
He added that during the month of June we were exposed to the shortage of gasoline, and today, after implementing this project, we will deal with a large part of this crisis, and we will provide the needs of motorists, and it is my pleasure to announce that the fuel shortage crisis has passed.
The minister added that the implementation of these projects will provide an economic environment and a very suitable ground for the region, and that the crises that the region was exposed to, especially the financial crisis in 2014, we see today that we have reduced their effects little by little
