Shafaq News/ US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Jennifer Gavito announced today, Thursday, that the United States "will not abandon" Iraq and wants it as a center for stability in the Middle East, and that Washington considers Baghdad a strategic partner.
Gavito said, in an interview with the "Bil Iraqi" program broadcast on the American "Al-Hurra" channel, that "US President Joe Biden seeks to make Iraq a center for stability in the Middle East."
Gavito added, in the interview, "We know that after the American exit from Afghanistan, many believed that the United States was withdrawing from the Middle East and from Iraq, and this is a mistake. We have an ambitious agenda in Iraq, and we consider it a strategic partner for America, and today's event allows us to stress that we consider The relationship with him is essential and important, and we see a partner in the new Iraqi government."
The US official explained that "security is the basis of the relationship between the two countries," but "we will continue to support the Iraqis in various fields."
