Shafaq News/ On Tuesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani launched the term "corruption pandemic" and considered it a "serious threat" to the Iraqi state, and while he presented the lines of Iraqi foreign policy, he commented on the cancellation of the decisions of the government of his predecessor, Mustafa Al-Kazemi.
Al-Sudani said in a speech after the cabinet session that was chaired by him and followed by Shafak News Agency, that "the corruption pandemic is a serious threat to the Iraqi state," explaining that "the procedures for recovering stolen amounts from tax trusts are continuing and are being followed up daily."
He continued, "We will not remain silent about the looted funds, and we will not repeat the contexts of previous governments regarding the fight against corruption," adding that "
Citizens want the perpetrators of corruption to be held accountable and to recover the stolen money."
And it is clear that "the cabinet session confirmed the government's vision in its work for the next stage, and everyone is concerned with the success of the government's mission." Al-Sudani added, "We have set three weeks for the ministries to prepare the government program, and there will be a committee that will coordinate with the ministries on the issue of writing the program."
He added, "The fourth week will discuss the government program and its approval in the Council of Ministers, and there will be an evaluation of the ministries and governorates, and setting goals and programs according to the priorities of the ministerial curriculum."
The Prime Minister said, "We will go in the government program to the priorities," noting that "the government's priorities are addressing poverty and unemployment, combating corruption, economic reforms and providing services."
He continued, "Directs were issued to the ministries that we visited related to specific topics pursued by a team of advisers, as well as directives related to strengthening the strategic storage of the ration card items."
Al-Sudani added, "We will go towards implementing the health insurance law, and we will agree with specialized companies to operate hospitals according to their regulations."
He stressed, "The security establishment must be kept away from any political investment," explaining that "the security services are concerned with preserving the prestige of the state."
Regarding the upcoming elections, Al-Sudani said, "The early elections are not only a government decision, and when parliament dissolves itself, the government is ready to implement the elections."
He also announced that "local elections (provincial councils) will be held in October of the year 2023."
Regarding Iraqi foreign policy, Al-Sudani said, "Our approach is to establish balanced relations with all countries, and there is international support for Iraq, and our compass is the interest of Iraq."
With regard to canceling the previous government’s decisions, Al-Sudani said that “the caretaker government does not have the authority to issue appointment orders and agreements,” explaining that “cancelling decisions to appoint heads of agencies and advisors is not within the political calculations or the exclusion of certain parties.”
He stressed that "the decisions of the Federal Court are applicable and that the approach of this government's work will be towards implementing the law and judicial decisions."
With regard to the agricultural plan for the winter season, Al-Sudani indicated that it is "late", and said that "the recommendations of the committee concerned with preparing the winter agricultural plan have been approved."
He explained that "the winter plan will be in the range of five million five hundred thousand acres," stressing that "the government is obligated to secure all the requirements of farmers."
Al-Sudani also announced the approval of the recommendations to compensate farmers affected by not planting the yoghurt crop.
