Earth News / Representative Adel Khamis Al-Mahlawi called today, Sunday, for an “immediate” investigation into   the report of the United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED), which spoke of “enforced” disappearances during the operations to liberate cities from the control of the terrorist organization ISIS. A statement issued by her after the end of her visit to Iraq on 11/24/2022.
Al-Mahlawi said in a statement, received by Earth News, that “the report requires the government to conduct an immediate investigation in this regard and take its national and legal role   in this regard, in terms of measures that reveal facts and clarify matters for local and international public opinion,” noting that “on a personal level, a person during the last period committed these crimes.” And the violations through statements and official communications, and we asked the previous governments to confront the perpetrators and hold them accountable, but to no avail.
He added, “The aforementioned report was not surprising to us, as it was preceded by many reports from local and international human rights organizations that diagnosed the crime of enforced disappearance in detail, but to no avail. By finding solutions for it, and he is responsible and trusted with his credibility, patriotism, standing with the truth, and his rejection of injustice.”
Al-Mahlawi was surprised by the "definite silence of the media and local organizations concerned with human rights regarding the UN report, which has now become an international issue that will be discussed at the highest levels of decision-making in the United Nations."
