Iraq This accusation was made by officials in China and Russia.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said in statements a few days ago that "according to official statistics from the Syrian side, between 2011 and the first half of this year, the US army's illegal investment of Syrian resources caused damage to Syria amounting to hundreds of billions of dollars."
For his part, the permanent Russian representative to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, said in a statement that "in October, with the protection of the US army, more than 160 trucks loaded with oil and wheat were transported from Syria to Iraq."
Amid the increasing frequency of this information, (Baghdad Today) tried to obtain information from the official authorities in Baghdad and the Kurdistan region, to find out the truth about the entry of Russian oil into the country, and what its fate is and where it goes, especially as it enters the lands of the Kurdistan region.
Federal outlets "know nothing"
An official in the Iraqi Federal Ports Authority denied the existence of any information about theft and smuggling of oil and the entry of trucks from Syria to the Kurdistan region.
The official, who asked not to be named, told (Baghdad Today) that “the commission does not have any confirmed information about the theft and smuggling of oil and the entry of trucks from Syria into the Kurdistan region, as the border crossings in the region are not under the authority of the commission and we do not know anything about it.”
And he added, "According to the information that reaches us from some sources, the region has unofficial border crossings, and these crossings take place in which many goods enter unofficially, but even these crossings are not under the control of the federal government and its supervisory authorities."
The security forces in the region “deny”
As for the responsible authorities in the Kurdistan region, they categorically deny the existence of such operations, indicating that there is only one crossing between the region and Syria, and it is controlled and subject to the Ports Authority in the region.
A member of the Peshmerga and Asayish Committee in the Kurdistan Parliament, Saeed Mustafa, said in an interview with (Baghdad Today), that “what is mentioned about the entry of protected convoys of American forces carrying oil is completely incorrect,” noting that what connects the Kurdistan region with Syria is the Semalka crossing, which is under the control of the Border Crossings Authority. In the region and the Ministry of Finance, and there is absolutely no such issue, and what is published is incorrect.
Coordination framework: Syrian oil enters Iraq and goes to Israel!
And in the midst of the lack of clear information even with the authorities of the federal border crossings and the denial of the region’s crossings, the leader in the coordination framework, Jabbar al-Mamouri, talks about “strange” information stating that Syrian oil is being stolen by the American forces and enters the Kurdistan region and then goes to Turkey and then is sent through sea to Israel.
This information raises a number of questions about the reality and possibility of this happening. The map that Al-Mamouri talks about indicates a “circular” distance and a long road, while the road could be shortened by expelling Syrian oil to the Turkish border directly north without going through Iraq, or leaving. West towards the sea, or exit south towards Jordan and then Israel, which are 3 ways and options in the event that one of the roads cannot be used because it passes through places under the control of the Syrian regime.
