Baghdad / Obelisk: The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, considered, on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, that the “fair allocation” of the Kurdistan region in the 2023 budget is a “good start” for resolving problems with Baghdad.
A statement by the regional government stated that Barzani discussed with the European Union ambassador to Iraq, Phila Fariola, ways to enhance coordination and cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the European Union, especially supporting the reforms implemented by the ninth ministerial formation in the field of diversifying the economy and strengthening the agricultural sector, in addition to finding foreign markets to export local products. Kurdistan Region to European markets. There was also a discussion about the importance of reforming the Kurdistan banking system, and the opportunities for assistance provided by the European Union in this regard.
The statement added, "The meeting witnessed discussions about the problems of the Kurdistan Region and the federal government on the basis of the constitution, as the Prime Minister reaffirmed the desire of the Kurdistan Region to solve problems."
Barzani pointed out that "fairly allocating financial dues to the Kurdistan Region in the federal budget for the year 2023, based on the population of the region and in accordance with the constitution, could be a good start towards resolving the basic problems between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government."
