    Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Environment announced the isolation of radioactive materials at the Furat Al-Khair plant in Dhi Qar.

    The ministry's media office stated in a statement, "Under the direction of the Minister of Environment, Nizar Amidi, a joint technical team from the Radiation Protection Center and the Radiation Division in the Environment Directorate in Dhi Qar Governorate conducted a radiological examination and examination of the Furat Al-Khair Iron and Steel Factory with the aim of collecting scrap pieces and isolating radioactively contaminated pieces." ".

    The Director General of the Radiation Protection Center, Sabah Al-Husseini, explained, according to the statement, that "based on the oversight role of the Ministry of Environment, and as a continuation of the radiation survey work carried out by the technical teams of the Environment Directorate in Dhi Qar Governorate on a daily basis and over a period of more than a month, the research and investigation work For any radioactively contaminated pieces in the Furat Al-Khair Iron and Steel Factory located in the Tal Al-Lahm area, it is still continuing," pointing out, "carrying out the work of sorting spent iron pieces (scrap) and conducting a radiation survey of all scrap pieces and isolating any radioactively contaminated pieces."

    He stated that "work is continuing for the rest of the scrap iron gatherings at the factory site," noting that "the exceptional efforts made by the technical teams aim to protect citizens and the environment from the dangers of radioactive contamination by controlling the polluted scrap collection sites in Baghdad and the provinces and limiting the spread of radioactive contamination." to wider areas, especially those materials used in recycling industries.
