    An official in the Iraqi Prime Minister's party, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, revealed that the draft of the new oil and gas law will be prepared from two previous projects, with the addition of some new proposals to it, and that it will be completed in less than a month. While a member of the Fatah Alliance stated that there is a divergence of views between the parties to the coordination framework regarding the new draft law.

    Ali al-Ghanmi, a member of the political bureau of the Euphrates Movement headed by Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, said that "a new version of the oil and gas law is being prepared, and it is expected to be completed in less than a month."

    This comes after the leaders of the coordination framework held a meeting on January 4, in Baghdad, during which they discussed several files, including (drafting the oil and gas law).

    In 2008 and 2011, the Iraqi Council of Ministers submitted two draft laws for oil and gas in Iraq, but political conflicts and disagreements prevented them from being approved by Parliament.

    Al-Ghanimi explained that "the new draft law was derived from the two previous bills, and new proposals were added to it," noting that it "focuses more on the dues of oil-producing provinces and regions.     A member of the Presidency of the Badr Organization of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Muhammad Al-Bayati, stated that “there is a divergence of views on the draft oil and gas law between the parties of the Coordination Framework Alliance, and that those differences must be settled and then negotiated with the State Administration Alliance.”
