Baghdad / Obelisk: A member of the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee, Representative Amer Abdul-Jabbar, said on Thursday, January 19, 2023, that the Ministry of Transport continues to “drain money” by losing lawsuits and new international arbitration.
And Abdul-Jabbar stated in a statement, “Despite our repeated warnings to the Ministry of Transport regarding not resorting to the judiciary except in difficult cases and after exhausting amicable ways to settle any dispute with other parties, in addition to our submission of proposals to the Ministry to address the weak file of lawsuits and international arbitration that it suffers from.” The formations of the Ministry of Transport due to the lack of experience of many managers and officials or their corruption.
He added, "The ministry lost lawsuits that cost the state several billion dinars. Unfortunately, the bleeding of financial waste in this file is still going unaddressed. Today, the Ministry of Transport has lost a new lawsuit that will oblige the ministry to pay large dues without the second party providing any service, and the reason." This is due to mismanagement, the lack of experience of those in charge of this file, and the corruption of some of them, and we hold them today responsible for this damage to public money.
The parliamentarian called on “the public prosecution and the judicial authorities to follow up on this dangerous file and hold these losers accountable for this failure and great financial waste.”
