The Ministry of Industry and Minerals confirmed the continuation of the development of work in Basra Salt and the achievement of tangible results during the second year of implementing the partnership contract with Al-Dahan Group Company for Industrial Investments.
The Director of the Mineral Extraction Department at the State Company for Mining Industries, Engineer Haider Jabbar Sajit, explained to the news agency Noon, that the Basra Salt Salt is one of the large and important projects that the company seeks to improve its industrial and productive reality through serious cooperation with the participating company to reach the design capacity of (500) thousand. tons per year to meet the needs of the integrated industrial complex that will be established in the salt shop during the coming years according to the specified periods and the planned completion rates within the partnership contract and over a period of five years starting from September of 2021, indicating that the work steps have been completed for the first year of the contract and the target energy has been achieved amounting to (160) thousand tons annually and the implementation of work steps for the five months of the second year, which included maintenance of gates and production basins, maintenance of concentration basins, salt channels carrying brine solutions, and main and secondary marine channels with distances and sizesLarge, in addition to other extensive works, including the construction of dams with appropriate technical specifications for water storage and control of concentrations and pumping quantities for the main stations with a capacity of (6) cubic meters per second during tide hours, and the secondary pumping station that contains five pumps with a capacity of (5) cubic meters per second.
He pointed out that the works are carried out according to the plan and with the specified timelines to achieve the target capacity for the second year, which amounts to (250) thousand tons annually, stressing that the company is following up on the implementation of the planned works in accordance with the clauses of the partnership contract in order to make the project a success and make it one of the distinguished industrial projects that supply the country with the industrial salt product. With high specifications and purity, in addition to employing manpower and creating new job opportunities for the people of Basra Governorate.
