    Economy News - Baghdad
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning, Maher Johan, confirmed the government's intention to conduct the population census.
Johan added, in a televised interview, that "there is a general tendency of the state to reduce the gap in salaries," while he saw that "cancelling some salary allocations will face a challenge."
He explained, "The operational budget amounts to 75 percent of the budget," pointing out that "the sums of social protection rose to 4.5 trillion dinars."
Johan went on to say that "the poverty rate in Iraq is 22 percent, and the unemployment rate is 13-15 percent."
He continued, "Iraq will witness a major transformation in the field of roads and bridges during the next two years, and major hospital projects will be completed during the next year."
