    The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency at the Ministry of Interior reported, on Saturday, that an attempt to sell a child for 25 million dinars was thwarted by a gang of mostly women in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

    And the agency said in a statement, which “NAS” received a copy of, (May 20, 2023), that “after receiving intelligence information about the presence of a gang of four women and a man who intend to sell a 5-day-old child for a sum of money amounting to (25) million Iraqi dinars, and on Immediately, a specialized work team from the intelligence agency was formed from organized crime in Anbar, to lure the suspects and arrest them in one of the areas of the capital, Baghdad.  
      
    The statement added, "The arrest of the accused was flagrante delicto, while they were carrying out the trafficking process, saving the child, and thwarting their vile intentions to gain their financial goals."  
      
    The statement noted that "the investigative papers were presented to the competent judge, and he decided to arrest them in accordance with Articles 6/First, Second and Sixth of the Human Trafficking Law and in accordance with Articles 47, 48 and 49 of the Penal Code."
