Today, Sunday, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Dilshad Shaaban, revealed that a new meeting had been held between the two Kurdish parties in Erbil.
Shaaban told (Baghdad Today) that "a delegation from the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union will visit today, Sunday, the Political Bureau of the Democratic Party in order to resolve important issues related to holding the Kurdistan Parliament elections."
He added that "the meeting will focus on the issue of activating the Election and Referendum Commission in Kurdistan and voting on the renewal of its members, since its legal age has expired, and it cannot supervise the holding of elections in Kurdistan."
The two political offices of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union met last Tuesday in Sulaymaniyah.
The two sides agreed to take practical steps with the other parties to reorganize the internal affairs of Kurdistan and open a new page in all relations.
In another aspect of the meeting, according to a joint statement, "the two sides agreed to strengthen the constitutional structure of the Kurdistan region, and to accelerate legal and political steps to ensure that the Kurdistan Parliament elections are held on time this year."
