    The Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab Abdullah, confirmed that dams and reservoirs in the Kurdistan region are a vital part of Iraq's water system.

    The ministry said in, "The Minister of Water Resources, Awn Diab Abdullah, and his accompanying delegation met with the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani," pointing out that "during the meeting, they discussed a plan for water releases from dams that serve the irrigation reality throughout Iraq, especially the central and southern governorates." .

    She added that "they discussed the possibility of constructing dams according to the outputs of the strategic study of water and land in Iraq, and ways of coordination and cooperation were discussed."

    And Minister Dhiab indicated, according to the statement, that "the prime minister of the region directed to support the work of the joint committees," noting that "climatic changes have greatly affected Iraq's water imports."

    In a separate meeting, the Minister of Water Resources, Awn Dhiab Abdullah, met with the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources in the Kurdistan Region, Bekerd Talabani, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources in the region.     in the Kurdistan region within the federal plan prepared by the National Center for Management Water resources, in coordination with the technical team of the ministry and through the General Authority of Dams and Reservoirs.”

    The statement indicated that "the meeting was attended by the Director General of the General Authority for Dams and Reservoirs, the Director General of the National Center for Water Resources Management, and the Director General of the Center for Studies and Designs of Water Resources Projects in the Northern Region."
